A psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Carl Jung, has this amazing discovery that wherever it is that you don’t wanna look or that you’re distracting yourself from. Or will he refer to as your shadows, is the gateway to everything that you’re looking for.

To me, this blows my mind. And I try to apply it. I don’t try- I apply it to my life.

I don’t do it all the time. I’m not perfect at it, of course. But it is something I’m constantly thinking about because I know that when you do the thing that you’re afraid of you feel so much better on the other side. And when I work with people day-to-day, coaching them, I see this come up all the time. And I often see even just talking to friends and family.

Our words don’t often times match our actions, and it’s not because you’re lazy. It’s because there’s an underlying fear preventing you from doing the thing that you say you wanna do. It’s a lot harder than you think. Like if you’re not regularly working out there’s a reason for that.

And so, what I encourage you today is to look into your shadows. Look into whatever it is that you’re avoiding.
